EN Monofluorinated organic compounds play a crucial role in the design of new drugs and biologically active compounds; especially if they contain another halogen atom which can be relatively easily replaced by other functional groups. Therefore halofluorination, i.e. simultaneous addition of fluorine and either chlorine, bromine or iodine to the double bond of organic molecule, is an extremely important and useful tool for organic synthesis. In this work, we present a current summary of the most common reagents as well as the methodologies applied for the halofluorination of olefins.
